First Day back at work August 2012

Well, Familia:
I survived the first day back at work. We had meetings at the high school. Not the kind of day one would think that would wipe out the energy of a veteran (seasoned) teacher.
What, probably, did wipe out my energy - the excursion into the State Parks in the mountains of Eastern West Virginia.
Leah and I ate a lovely buffet (beef noodles, pot roast to-die-for, and berry cobbler) lunch at Penn Alps, toured the craft shops, refrained from buying and drove off - looking for adventure.
The day was beautiful and the road was blacktop - no holes, dents or divots - all the way to The West Virginia State Parks: Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley.
The road, although straight and clean, was LONG, too long. We got to the Blackwater Lodge, ask directions to the cabins, drove around and took photos, saw the famous falls from the "easy" overlook and remembered all the times we had been there before with our families.   The cabin I wanted is rented and the others are on hold for a conference the weekend we were looking at. So NO Blackwater weekend this October. I'm too afraid of snow in the mountains.
We drove to the end of the long road in Canaan and began the descent into Harmon...(I saw the road to Timberline, but we were too close to sunset and I didn't want to drive through the rain (predicted for "before 7" by the weather report at the lodge) and the fog on those unfamiliar mountain roads.
I didn't cover my head; we got to Elkins by a little after 6PM through rain and fog. We had a buffet (stew and sweet potatoes, Kings Hawaiian bread...) at the steak house to the left of Hiawatha's , then we left for Buckhannon and Weston and Clarksburg, and Fairmont and back. I got home at 9:30 or so.
We took photos of our adventure, but something won't let me upload them.
Final thought: I think we should find a FLAT LAND VACATION PLACE for our reunion - (Near the Ohio River) And you can comment or call me and suggest an easy to get to hide a way.
Love to you all...

Finally Friday

Well I really blew this day away. I am such a lazy person.
On the good side, I did get more copies of my birth certificate from the courthouse (to mail with my retirement request, my passport request and my social security if needed). I should have: called the eye doctor and got lined bifocals, cleased out more papaerwork at the boulevard, organized my office. But, hey, who wants to do work.... most of that stuff is dependent on SEEING the paperwork (which I don't do very well just now)
I found some cool signs while floating 'round the interesting net.

I hope they post upright (not sideways like most of my recent photos)

Same day - naked ladies

pictures of recent activity - no I don't know why they are sideways

Sunday - but NOT sunny

The weather is its own circumstance. Overcast all day - 84 most of the day.
I have acquired a webtop account that has messed up my access to blogger - so when I try to rsvp to anyone's bog (Trisha and Amanda), I can't leave a message.
*Amanda and Todd's movie is very cute: The WV sticker on the new Jeep! Thank you, Uncle Johnny.
*The latest from our Watoga weekend - good photos and good memories. thank goodness for spellchecker om this blogger, too.

This has been a really long day. I haven't had much energy to do anything, but I did have hot dogs from T and L ,,,
Any one recognize these little beauties? they are a rough ceramic- hollow like drinking glasses - one has a metal bail?

Took the bags of trash from the porch at the Boulevard and put them in the driveway for the garbage men.   I was dripping with sweat even though the sun was not out from behind the clouds.

I drove to the cemetery and chatted with Mom n Dad. The grass was neatly trimmed and the flowers (faded a bit) were still good, as was the flag. [Best the place has looked in several months]

Saturday, Leah and I had lunch together at the Dutchman's daughter in Fairmont. I had the grilled chicken livers and she had the tuna sammy. I must be the most exciting blogger on the planet with these stories...
And, in late July, Zoey enjoys the forbidden ice cream with Grandma Pat, Delia, and photographer-Mom Trisha.
The rain has arrived right on schedule = 6:25 or so. And it is really coming down. Glad i got that trash to the curb earlier today...
