New Year's Eve, December 31, Wednesday, 2008

I heard the bell ringing. I got up to snow on the ground. Wind howling. Stanley was ringing the bell. And I couldn't stand up on my legs, let alone "walk." It was 1:45AM.

I put my shoes on. That helped me to ambulate toward the ringing bell. I flipped on the light so I could tell what was going on.

I got the requip and the water to him. I moved on over to "the water closet" and sat for a while. Then I rejoined the scene in the bedroom and turned off the fluorescent light and made my way back to bed for a few more hours of dreaming...

The night before, I had dreamed that I would go to the doctor for the pain in my ankles and he would put me in the hospital. Nightmare. Then I had to get up and organize the papers lying on the bed, file the bill stubbs, get the insurance straightened out and do all the paperwork I hadn't gotten 'round to this year....
At the crack of dawn today I dreamed that I had students sitting at their desks. I gave all my history students a test --- and they wouldn't give it back to me! I walked around and demanded they turn in the tests. I got baby shoes and menus, scraps of paper that looked like bills, but not a single test....

Hello from Squirrel Valhalla.

Today the sun was shining and bright; the air was crisp and cold (about 40 degrees - I'm guessing)and the squirrels were found dead on the roadways (in numbers too large for just co-winkydinks) Red and Grey - it didn't matter... just lumps of fur left to attest to the warm spring-like condition of yesterday and this morning for our furry friends.

The vampire people came today - blood drawing has a friendly face, but it is still blood letting... results tomorrow...
Sammy Lantz and grandson Nickolas dropped by to say "Hi, Happy New Year" and give the teacher a gift ;+)
Also, one of our neighbors up the valley has bone cancer - the pharmacist" (I think.)

Grandma got a Christmas card from Harriet. Ours came before Christmas, this one must have stopped over somewhere...they were mailed on the same day.

Sunday the 28th of December 2008

Strange weather. It was at least 60 degrees here in Sun Valley today. The ground is damp. The wind was strong and the whole thing reminded me of early spring.
Dad and Grandmother watched the Steelers win today from their separate vantage points. I think Mom slept through most of the game, but the action on TV kept us all involved, and not sleeping - because it was a sleepy kind of day.
I drove to the Rite Aid, CVS and Krogers on errands but it was good just to get out of the house.
Linda made the pork chop casserole with sauerkraut, brown sugar, onions, apples and fried boneless thin pork chops. She's "pulling a double" today to give Brenda a weekend off. Linda is working with Grandma to pull out the phlegm that plagues her each night and keeps her coughing. Kim did that last night, too.
I'm looking forward to the New Year. Might as well; it will come anyway.
