February 25 - just a 29 days til MY BIRTHDAY (as if you didn't know)

Yes, gentle readers - I have delayed writing for several days. Things are new in C-burg:

1. it's now Wednesday evening February 25. I have completed my parent-teacher conference for this 3rd term [yesterday evening](see hobo teacher blog for a similar experience.)

2. My son-in-law called me with THE news. We can handle it.

3. Our care giver Kim called to confirm "she has shingles" and can't come to work for at least 5 days. I've already called two other people - no luck at hiring a "fill in"...

3. I have a new book- Caring for your Parents- the complete AARP guide...at 12 bucks.

4. I am reinventing myself tonight via Kahlua and ice. I would have done wine but I saw on tv [on NBC and it MUST be TRUE...] that wine and drinking in general causes cancer... heck what doesn't cause cancer?!

4. my cell rang in class..it was Dr. Bragg's office: Stan's InI was OK continue the drug at 4 1/2 mg. but I had to request another script for 4 mg [right there in front of my 24 students.]

5. Some math coordinator wrote an email stating she was using C wing for math field day on Saturday-that means some kids might be in my room ...where are the locks on the desks and cabinets.... do I have to hide the tv contriols...

6. Some body wants my job, or my room, certainly not my parking space: it's handicapped... Someone asks me everyday Are you gonna retire soon? I wish...

Let It Snow! February 4, 2009 [Wednesday night]

Gentle Readers: The time is 11 pm. The snow is piling up like Ivory flakes all over Sun Valley. School in Harrison, Mon and Taylor counties is already on a 2 hour delay. But, I felt I must sweep the snow off the patio and attempt to sweep it off the driveway... It's 20 degrees out there... The moon is nowhere to be seen. The cinder trucks have already passed along the road to where ever... and it's only 11 o'clock.

Augh, I still have to get up at 5am to get ready for school and take care of business here. and it's 11:09 pm. It's a good thing I got that pain med RX filled. Don't you wish you could be here to play in the snow?

Photographing Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Gentle Readers: Yes, it is ANOTHER Snow Day! My goal for the day: figure out how to upload photos from the camera.

Snow is on the ground from yesterday. Rain is on the snow from today. Ice is being made, even as I type. A heavy mist hangs in the air - blocking out the blue sky (which appears only in the photos I took this morning.) The temperature is @ 35 degrees Fahrenheit... [that's how my spell checker spelt it, so that must be correct, right!?]

Have fun today in what ever room you find yourself.

Addendum to January 27

HAPPINESS: something to DO, something to LOVE, and something to HOPE FOR

I stole that and edited it for grammar. Do you recognize the source? Can you guess the edit?

I swept snow early. Bill came by with his snowblower in the late morning and cleared the driveway and the patio. And it snowed again, of course.

Brenda came. The roads were not terrible, but she was not confident in driving in this mess. And she will come back tomorrow, when the roads will be iffy again. Sandy called, just to "check in". And we swapped snow shovelling stories.

Pepperoni rolls were set to baking and then I went outside. I swept the car out around 2 pm and drove to the Boulevard, where I swept snow for a while. I went on to CVS for the RX and drove on over "hospital hill" a.k.a. Rt. 98 which was cindered and fairly clear.

Linda came. Brenda went home. I took a nap. Judy called and won't be here tonight. Linda will stay over. Stan is asleep right now. The Evening news is on TV. Mom is sitting in bed looking occasionally at the TV.

The big weather story is not snow but the flooding that will follow. I hope the digging done last year will save the labor of moving basement items out of flood's way...

I don't want to go back to school this week, but may have to on Thursday. We'll see.

Tuesday 6 AM SNOW DAY ha, ha, ha

That's Olivia looking out the back door of our house on Park - many years ago...

Gentle readers: It's a snow day. Time to RELAX. Huh? Did I say that? Snow to sweep off the patio and drive way. People to feed. Pepperoni rolls to bake ( I went to the store yesterday) RX to pick up. Papers to grade (scratch that) Photos to take...
Don't you wish you had a snow day?!

January 21, 2009 - SNOW DAY! again...

Gentle readers: (all four of you) Providence has given me another day of snow filled leisure* (Of course, in the past, this really would be leisure - but now, as grades are due today, and I am home unable to put them into the computer - for whatever asinine reasons - I must work on a fast way to up load the numbers so I can comply with our leaders' deadlines.) [Talk about your fabulous run-on-sentences and rambling thoughts...] I've been up since 4:30am looking for the Taylor County delay or cancellation notices. Finally, after my shower, I got the message from Judy who saw it on TV - delay. After 7, we saw closed on TV. Richard called later to make sure I saw it. Neither of us were called on the snow chain!

The nighttime temps dipped into the single digits, at least on the car thermometer. The snow is accumulating to the tune of 2 inches of sparkling powder. More to sweep. The sun is BRIGHT.

I have read the suggested Blog of the Day and it is very interesting: all tricked out with music, embedded videos- which are really kewl and funny, and a literate writer, who - it appears - is just like "your average educated Joe" somewhere between 'grown-up' and "waiting-for-God" mature -- although that's not exactly how I want to describe the writer (Rick) that's all I've got right now.

But it IS Wednesday; I must get to the work of the day. I hope you all will write so I can get some interesting stuff to tell Grandma and Dad.
